Network Management Multilevel System

In past several years, almost every satellite and broadcast system in use has been monitored and controlled from a dedicated, typically PC-based M&C system. A number of Visionic stations have been deployed, controlling a range of equipment in the receiving, production and output stages of the signal path.

As the complexity grows, the NOC operators were presented with growing number of systems or “screens”, as they’re popularly called. In order to prevent such overload of information, we should design a system that offers the NOC operator to monitor and control several systems from a central (NOC) place. Additionally, there might be several NOC stations installed; each of them shall provide the complete view of all systems on the network.

There are several typical examples how Visionic can be connected into a multi-level monitoring and controlling system:
1. Flat / one-level systems (small to medium installations)
2. Manager with direct access (medium installations, one LAN)
3. Manager with proxy (medium to large installations, fleet deployment, multiple LANs)

Central View Manager

The Global Central View (GCV) product collects and measures parameters from multiple remote stations and presents them on a single screen. It provides a way to log in into the remote station and set up any parameters of interest, search for devices, view log files and alarms or even reboot the remote system.

The Front panel layout tab proposes the possibility of listing all the relevant devices (such as Modem, Decoder, HPA for example) along with their values of selected parameters.

"At any point of time you can take a look at the list of both active and inactive alarms and put the failed device(s) into the maintenance mode. Should you be interested in locating the particular device, Device Search Menu offers you an easy, convenient way to do so."

 The fully detailed log of events is available to see, with all the information about user actions, date and time of event, level of severity, device name, and other data. The log can be generated for one or more days in the past. In addition to this important data, GCV proposes a full overview of alarms raised one, two, or more days in the past. The alarms are color coded, assigned a level of severity and contain information about the server and device they are related to. (see also Visionic 5 products).

Visionic Carrier Monitoring

Visionic Carrier Monitoring is a simple, automated TV/ Radio / other channels monitoring solution. Solution is designed for broadcasting, satellite and other telecom operators that require a reliable and rich in features carrier monitoring system.

This solution initiates, in sequence, a series of operations that measure particular channel. These data are then stored into the database, analyzed and compared to the predefined max/min values. If the measured value is outside the range, an appropriate alarm (high/low) is raised for the particular channel.

Measurements are stored within a database for historical purposes, allowing further analysis and in depth reporting. The reporting functions are implemented through web pages to provide an easy access to the relevant data.

The image below demonstrates the most commonly used functionality to measure incoming signals with a single spectrum analyzer. The system can be deployed as-is (turnkey solution) on a number of installations. Alternatively, it can be modified so that it accompanies different sort of measurement instruments (IRD, demodulator, DVB analyzer) and/or to provide different types of measurements – like DVB-S/S2/C/C2/T/T2, IP quality analyzers, signal analyzers and similar.
